Stem Certificate program
STEM enrichment hours must be pre-approved by the STEM coordinator
-Internship experience at a STEM related agency
-Attend a STEM seminar
-Participate in a STEM online seminar
-Take a non-credit STEM course through free sites like Harvard EdX, Coursera, etc. **Any online courses must be pre-approved by SAA’s academic committee for high school credit.
-Take additional math, science, technology, or engineering courses to the STEM certificate requirements.
-Learning any STEM skills from an approved teacher or supervisor.
-Have another STEM enrichment option in mind? Please submit a request to the STEM coordinator before starting the activity for pre-approval.
STEM community service options must be pre-approved by the STEM coordinator.
-Volunteer for your church doing AV, social media posts, photography, digital design or art, or any technology-based services.
-Volunteer at a local hospital, medical office, veterinary clinic, health screening drive or blood drive.
-Mission trip where the main project is to work with engineers to build a building or structure.
-Use a STEM skill to help someone or an agency in your community.
-Volunteer at a science or STEM museum, the aquarium or zoo.
-Tutor a student in math or science
-Help a teacher with math, science or technology activities or lessons
-Have another STEM community service option in mind? Please submit a request to the STEM coordinator before starting the activity for pre-approval.
Science-
ISTEM, Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry, Physics, dual credit anatomy and physiology (each semester counts as 1 credit). Science courses not offered at SAA (Spencerville Adventist Academy) must be pre-approved by the STEM coordinator and SAA’s academic committee.
Math-
Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Statistics. Math courses not offered at SAA must be pre-approved by the STEM coordinator and SAA’s academic committee.
STEM electives-
Broadcast journalism, Microsoft certification, yearbook, and any STEM course that is beyond the requirement for the STEM certificate.
Art-
Art class, yearbook, any fine art class * must be pre-approved by the fine arts teacher and the STEM coordinator prior to the drop/add date.

PBL 1 and PBL2
