Athletic Director
The overall mission, vision and values of Spencerville Adventist Academy are paramount in everything we do as a school. Consistent with this concept, the SAA athletics program is designed to function within those parameters and to work harmoniously with the spiritual and academic development of the student-athlete and the school at large.
We believe an athletic program is an important part of our overall mission of “enriching the whole person for service to God and man” because it promotes good sportsmanship, leadership, self-sacrifice, forethought, perseverance, maturity, respect, teamwork, generosity and integrity. These ideals are consistent with the SAA Values and Mission Statement.
SAA is a member of the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference (PVAC). PVAC offers great competition for schools within the league. Sports teams that are a member of the PVAC league require tryouts due to the number allowed to participate on the team as well as skill level of the student athlete. SAA also offers intramurals and skills-development programs that do not require tryouts and allow for all students to participate regardless of skill level.
The list below includes sports we offer, however, team offerings depend on student interest and registration.

The Academy Choir is Spencerville Academy’s mass student choir. This group performs at Christmas and in the spring, as well as throughout the year at various churches.
Membership in the Honors chorus is by audition only. Students are expected to have a willingness to be a team player as well as leadership skills. Students in the Honors Chorus must also be members of the Academy Chorale. As the touring Choir of Spencerville Academy, students can expect additional concerts performances at local churches throughout the Maryland, D.C., and Virginia area. In December 2016-2017, the Honors Chorus and Orchestra toured Puerto Rico. Every other year students also attend the choral festival at Washington Adventist University. In addition to sight-singing, singing, and theory assessments, students in Honor’s Chorus are strongly encouraged to take private voice lessons by expert voice technicians on staff as Spencerville. Students in this organization shall assist as section leaders in both choirs.
Students in Academy strings can expect performances at churches in the D.C. metro area, a Christmas concert, a spring concert, and music festivals. Students must audition and have had experience playing the violin, viola, cello, or bass for at least three to four years years. Students are assessed on a regular basis for chair assignments as well as graded playing. The string ensemble toured Puerto Rico in December 2016-2017.
